9th World Newah Day: Celebrating Newa Community and Heritage

Newa Guthi Victoria proudly participated in the 9th World Newah Day, bringing the Newa community together at Coburg Lake Reserve to celebrate Newa identity, heritage, culture and community connection.

The gathering provided an opportunity for families and community members to come together in a relaxed and welcoming environment, celebrating the traditions and values that connect Newah communities around the world.

A special highlight of the gathering was the sharing of traditional Newari food, including Wo and Dya Kula, giving community members an opportunity to enjoy and celebrate Newa culinary traditions together.

The event highlighted the importance of preserving not only Newa music, dance and festivals, but also the traditional foods and practices that form an important part of Newa cultural identity.

World Newah Day also provided an opportunity for community members to strengthen relationships, share experiences and encourage younger generations to remain connected with their Newa heritage.
