Guru Purnima is a special occasion to express gratitude and respect to the teachers who guide us and pass knowledge from one generation to the next.
In Melbourne, Newa Guthi Victoria celebrated Guru Purnima by honouring and worshipping the Dhime and Newa dance gurus who have dedicated their time and knowledge to preserving and teaching Newa cultural traditions.
The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the gurus whose patience, dedication and passion continue to keep the rhythms of Dhime and the beauty of Newa dance alive in Melbourne.
It was also a meaningful gathering for students, families and the wider community—a reminder that culture survives when knowledge is shared and traditions are passed on to future generations.
